Tone-San
Tone-San
has hand crafted leather all his life. One of the few traditional
Japanese Artisans still adhering to principals of quality, the
collaboration with Kimono Collections has been a long searched for joy.
It is a complicated process to blend
the fine silk and embroidery in a Kimono Collections Classic
handbag/purse with leather. It requires an artistic sensibility and a
flexible approach to enable two contradictory fabrics to work
seamlessly together to create a beautiful piece of art. Tone-San has
the skill and experience to produce Kimono Collections one of a kind KIKO and HANA creations.
Tone-San laments the
loss of a trade that was once full of pride and perfection. To prevent
the complete demise of his much loved profession, he has a belief in
developing young people who can continue the practices he himself was
apprenticed with. Tone-San has crafted for many of the most famous
Japanese labels and Kimono Collections is proud to benefit from his
magnificent craftsmanship.

Jamie Bell
Jamie Bell of Cooran in Queensland creates the Kimono
Collections wooden handles one by one. Jamie is a craftsman who makes
beautiful one-off pieces of furniture and Kimono Collections is
fortunate that he was excited about the challenge of creating a stand
alone piece of art that had structural integrity as well as physical
and tactile beauty.
Jamie's philosophy of using Australian salvaged,
recycled or sustainable timbers complimented Kimono Collections' and
our collaboration has resulted in multiple variations for the two
Kimono Classic handbag designs incorporating the stunning wooden
handles. No two sets of wooden handles are exactly the same, each is
hand cut, turned and lacquered.
A selection of Jamie's finely crafted, tratitional joinery furniture is available for view on his site: www.jamiebell.com.au
